Printing the PrintJob Settings

Often when you are having difficulty with printing, it will be very important for me to see the printjob settings. You can printout these settings by going to the printjob's Form page, and clicking the button at the bottom of the page, as follows:

  1. At the Main Menu, click on Printouts

  2. Select what kind of printout you want to print (i.e. insurance, statements, etc.) Click that.

  3. You should then see a Table of Print Jobs, for that kind of printout only (e.g. only insurance)

  4. Select (i.e. click once) the printjob you want to use; if you click it only once, that will select it, and you will see the pointer in the far left column move to that row.

  5. Now click on the Form tab of the notebook, in order to get to the Form page.

  6. At the bottom of the form page you will see a button, Printout Printjob Settings. Clicking that button will print out the settings (or printswitches as they used to be called).

  7. Before you click that button, you may want to select one of the three radio buttons, print to DOS, print to Windows, or print to Textfile. Please note that these three radio buttons have no effect on the actual printjob output; they affect only the printing of the settings controlled by the Printout Printjob Settings button.

Note that if you select print to Textfile, the printout of the settings will be sent to a file on the disk, with the same name as the printjob itself, with the file extension txt. That name may be truncated; for example, if the name of the printjob is "Medicare, Last Month, primaries and secondaries", you may see "medicarelast.txt" as the name of the file.

In addition, that setting will result in your being asked if you wish to email the settings to me. Reply Yes unless either you have AOL or you have no email on that computer. Your email program will activate with the error message filled in to the body of the message; you then can add whatever additional information or question you have.

This will enable you to send me the printjob settings, either by faxing them to me if you have printed them, or by emailing the textfile to me as an attachment if you have printed to a textfile.

If you print to a textfile, but cannot send the textfile by email directly, you can try to attach the textfile to an email.
